Susan Johnson, the homeowner, said she noticed the blob while cleaning her pool on Monday morning. “It was just this weird, blue thing just floating there,” she said. “I couldn’t believe my eyes.” Johnson said the blob is about the size of a softball and feels like a soft rubber ball. It does not appear to be harmful, and it does not have any odor. “I’ve never seen anything like it before,” Johnson said. “I don’t know what it is or where it came from.” Johnson has contacted the Albuquerque Police Department and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, but they have not been able to identify the object. The New Mexico Department of Health has also been notified, and they are conducting tests to determine the composition of the blob. “We’re not sure what it is yet,” said Dr. Sarah Waters, a spokesperson for the New Mexico Department of Health. “We’re running a series of tests to try to figure it out.” Dr. Waters said the tests could take several weeks to complete. In the meantime, Johnson said she is keeping the blob in a container in her garage.
